As part of our Reconciliation Action Plan, Treasury has committed to reflecting on and updating our official history. The Treasury was one of the first public sector institutions of the colonial government. Our story includes managing the development of the colony’s economy and supporting our growing immigrant citizenry with roads, hospitals and public schools. Our story also involves being at the centre of government facilitating policies which disadvantaged Aboriginal people.
Our past, like that of the state, contains much of which can be proud but also elements on which we need to reflect. Institutional integrity asks that we engage with both thoughtfully as we complete our updated corporate history.
